Pattern hair loss responds to FDA-approved medications. Finasteride blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT (the primary driver of male pattern hair loss); topical minoxidil prolongs the hair growth phase. They work best when used together.

What to expectInitial 4–12 weeks may include a "shed" before regrowth. Results typically visible at 3–6 months. Discontinuation reverses gains over 6–12 months.
Asked and answered.
- What are the sexual side effects of finasteride?
- Decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculatory disorders occur in <2% of users. Most resolve on discontinuation. Post-finasteride syndrome (persistent side effects after stopping) is rare but documented.
- How long until I see results?
- Visible regrowth typically appears at 3–6 months. Earlier (4–12 weeks) you may experience increased shedding before regrowth — this is normal.
