Connecting your Stripe account

A walkthrough for the Stripe onboarding flow — what info you need and how long it takes.

3-min readUpdated

Connecting Stripe means different things depending on whether you run a clinic or supply the marketplace. Start here.

What connecting does — and does not do

It does not switch on your checkout. Platform Health is the merchant of record: clients pay us at checkout, on our Stripe account. A clinic storefront can take payments the moment it exists, with nothing to connect.

For a vendor, the connected account is the destination for your monthly settlement. That transfer is real, so connecting is how the money reaches you.

For a clinic, nothing is sent to the account. There is no automatic clinic payout in the product today, and connecting does not start one — you are paid by invoicing Platform Health for your share. We keep the flow because these are the details a direct-deposit path would need if we build one. Connect it or skip it; your checkout is unaffected either way.

What you need

Have these ready before you start:

  • Business legal name and EIN (or SSN if sole proprietor)
  • Business address (the registered one, not just where you work)
  • Bank account details (routing and account number)
  • A government ID for the person setting it up
  • A description of what you sell

The flow

Clinics: open How you get paid in the dashboard. Vendors: open Payouts. Either way, hit "Connect with Stripe" and you are taken to Stripe's own onboarding form (hosted by Stripe, not us). Fill in the fields. The form remembers your progress if you have to step away.

Verification

Stripe runs an automated verification when you submit. Most accounts clear it instantly. Some get held for manual review, which takes 1-3 business days. If you are held, you will see a banner in your Stripe dashboard with the next step (usually upload a copy of your business license).

After you are verified

You can manage your Stripe account directly at dashboard.stripe.com. For a vendor, that is where your settlement transfers land and where to read them. For a clinic, the account will simply sit there — client payments settle to Platform Health, not to it, so there is nothing for it to show.
